Bali Bohemia (Genesis)
Inspired by my travels across Bali, in this collection, I deconstruct and reconstruct the themes around the city's cultural and architectural language to form meditative video art that elevates the soul.
Symbolism:
Shapes - Circles play an important role in the cultural and spiritual dimensions in Bali. They reflect the ideas of circularity; rebirth and reincarnation.
Colors - Inspired by the chakras in the body - the highest chakras are white, purple and blue, which help elevate us and reach the divine.

The circles symbolize the many souls that make up our universe. The circles within each circle represent the different facets of each being's life; their own universe.
Color symbolism:
The two layers of the universe - the surface and truth beneath it.
The surface level shows the circles in different colors, showing how we tend to see differences between ourselves and others. Once this layer is removed, you look beneath it and notice the humanness in the other - you can see that we are all the same - thus the circles become the same color.
The artwork shows the alternating layers to remind us to keep looking beneath the surface; keep noticing the oneness in the other. We are one.
Inspired by Balinese temple architecture, this meditative video artwork is a celebration of the oneness we all share.
The switch between different color palettes is aimed at bringing together contrasting ways of living and seeing the world. Even though we see things differently, the underlying truth is that we are all the same.
The square is considered a perfect shape and is believed to create balance between the four directions and four elements, which allows different energies of the universe to form harmonious spaces and minds.
